Absolutely not. This course focuses on teaching beginners. As long as you are intermediate level and still taking lessons or studying music in some capacity, you can teach.

While all of the above are essential to your own musical training, you don't need any of those to get started teaching music instrumental lessons to beginners. In fact, many highly-degreed folks tend not to be effective teachers to beginners because they haven't thought about the basics and how to break them down in such a long time.

Absolutely. While this course focuses on piano teaching materials and books, any aspiring music teacher will be able to effectively use 90% of this course. The most important parts about starting a music teaching studio can be applied to any instrument. All instruments, vocal, and theory teachers are welcome.

Musicians are lifelong learners. As long as you are a few steps ahead of your students, you can teach. If you have proficiency in piano playing, then you can teach a complete beginner how to get there. It's time to start teaching, even if you're still in school, even if you're still a teenager (ALL ages are welcome), even if you're a new mom, even if you got your music degree or certificate decades ago...there is a NEED for music teachers to get students started.

Congrats on your teaching job! As a hired instructor, you have valuable experience not only teaching, but in observing and experiencing first hand, how a music studio with multiple teachers runs. This course will reinforce much of what you already know, but it will motivate you to start taking steps to build your own teaching studio business. And don't worry about leaving that job and losing those students. New students will find you. It's best to transition while you're still teaching somewhere else.

Any steps you take in your music career to create something, including starting your teaching studio, you will have a deeper impact on your customers (students, clients, listeners) when you create with support and cultivate community. You are encouraged to ask questions, help others by answering questions, and post comments in two places: directly in each lesson for specifics about that lesson; or, for more broad topics or help with your specific needs, you will have free access to our "Expansive Music Training and Teaching" community group (value $57). Unlike most businesses, the start up costs are low to zero assuming you have a piano or are willing to drive to students' homes. Getting starting does not take a major investment, but you will want to invest back into your business as you gain experience and establish your business.

This is designed as a 3 to 4 week course. You will have access to each module, organized in steps, every 5 days. You will receive the BONUS Bundle on Day 10. You will leave this course with a strong Studio Policy which is the foundational document to your business. It's not only a contract between you and clients, but in some ways functions as a business plan because it forces you to go through the exercise of how to create an engaging learning space while making sure you are being compensated fairly with a regular (and increasing) salary.

No, this course is more focused on building a face-to-face music teaching studio that is part of your home (home studio), teaching at the student's home, renting teaching space at a music school, or starting a brick and mortar teaching studio. Online teaching is addressed, however, and online lessons are highly recommended for make up lessons, students that are sick, or whenever it's not possible to meet in person. I recommend that music teachers have at least a minimal set up for online teaching, but this course does not go into depth on the tech details of how to set up an online music teaching studio.
